COOK-OFF AT OYSTERFEST 2017
Our popular Seafood Cook-Off is held throughout both Saturday and Sunday of OysterFest.
We invite you to participate in our popular annual seafood cook-off, which is part of the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championship and Washington State Seafood Festival (OysterFest) sponsored by the Skookum Rotary Club of Shelton and held at the Shelton Airport (just less than 1 mile further north on Highway 101 from the fairgrounds on October 3rd and 4th. The Seafood Cook-Off will be held for all contestants on Saturday and Sunday. You are invited to send in your favorite recipes for the competition in three categories: 1) Main dish, 2) Soups and Stews and 3) Appetizers by Sept 7th, 2016. Finalists in each category will be selected in advance of the October Cook-Off. Notifications of selection or non-selection will be sent via email by September 15, 2016. Selected chefs will prepare for the panel of expert judges and a Delighted OysterFest audience on Saturday October 1st and on Sunday, October 2nd. A copy of the 2016 rules is available below. Please note a change from last year: In each category entries are limited to 6. So please get your entries in early. Deep frying is to be done by using an electric deep fryer.
The top three in each category will receive medals. In addition, monetary prizes of $600 for first, $400 for second and $300 for third will be awarded to the overall winners. All recipes selected for the competition will be available for sale at the event. The deadline for entering is September 07, 2016. Entries should be completed online.
